Some quick facts about Monroe History:  According to City Town  Info, it mentions that 

 

The earliest non-Native Americans settled in this area during the 1860s. The Great Northern Railroad was introduced in this area in the 1880s which lead to the establishment of the city. It was originally named Tye City. The name was later changed to Monroe, in honor of President James Monroe. The City of Monroe was officially incorporated in December 1902.

 

Monroe's nearby attractions include things like Woods Creek, the Skykomish River Centennial Park, and many more other attractions like the FastTrax Indoor Raceway

Everyone bring your popcorn because Monroe has free movie nights at Lake Tye on Fridays for the next few weeks. This is a beautiful time and place to bring everyone and anyone, and it's FREE! A projector plays the movies on a giant screen outdoors at the park (weather permitting). Beforehand there is music and food is available.

 

According to the website at Monroe, Wa  on Friday, August 13th:

Come join the community for our free Movies Under the Moon event, this week's showing is Frozen II (PG 103 minutes). Big Heart Big Smile will be running a free craft for kids beginning at 8:00pm.
